Drilling a borewell is a one-time investment that decides your water supply for years. Before you finalise a contractor, ask for a written quotation that separates drilling charges per foot, casing pipe cost, and any extra charges for hard rock.
Check what rig the contractor will bring to site. A DTH rig suited to hard rock formations behaves very differently from a rotary rig used in alluvial soil, and the wrong choice adds days to the job.
Ask about casing pipe grade and thickness, and confirm who supplies it. Low-grade casing is the most common cause of collapse and expensive repair later.
Finally, agree in advance on what happens if the bore is dry. Many providers offer partial rates for a failed point, but only if it is discussed before drilling begins.
